Mets Sign Reed Garrett to One-Year Contract
Garrett to Receive $740,000 Guaranteed
Contract Includes Incentives and Bonuses
The New York Mets have signed pitcher Reed Garrett to a one-year, $740,000 contract, according to multiple reports. The deal includes $740,000 guaranteed and additional incentives and bonuses.
Garrett, 29, has spent the past four seasons with the Chicago Cubs, compiling a 4.20 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 143 appearances (38 starts). He missed the entire 2022 season due to Tommy John surgery.
The Mets are hoping that Garrett can provide them with a reliable arm out of the bullpen in 2023. He is expected to compete for a spot in the team's middle relief corps.
Garrett's signing is the latest move by the Mets to bolster their bullpen. The team has also added veteran relievers Trevor Williams and Jeff Brigham this offseason.
